SUMMARY:Watercolor Magic for Beginners
DESCRIPTION:The Wethersfield Art League is offering “Watercolor Magic for Beginners” with instructor Diedre.  The class will be on 5 consecutive Thursdays on March 12\, 19\, 26\, April 2 & 9 from 2-4:30pm at the Little Red Schoolhouse.\n\nWatercolor is a beautiful and expressive medium and is one of the most versatile\, affordable and portable ways of making a painting.  In this class students will choose their subject matter and practice a variety of techniques (drawing\, painting light and shadow\, reflections\, color theory\, washes/gradients/dry brush and wet into wet/feathering and blending\, choosing and layering color\, underpainting and resists salt/wax/masking fluid).\n\nAny type of watercolors are fine to use (yes\, even kids’ ones!)  The teacher will have materials available for you to try or you may bring your own materials.  Students should bring a few pencils (mechanical is fine)\, a good eraser and a watercolor pad or block pad.  Class cost is $125.  Mail checks to Wethersfield Art League\, 193 Wells Road\, Wethersfield CT 06109.  Include your phone number and email address.  Contact us with any questions:  Connie 860-989-1873 or WethersfieldArtLeague@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Free Pastel Demonstration April 2nd
DESCRIPTION:Our monthly meetings and art demos are held at the Pitkin Community Center at 30 Greenfield St.\, Wethersfield on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. Free to sponsors and the public. Demos follow a brief meeting. April’s demo will be a pastel painting demo with Susan Baldwin Bosworth. Bring a friend an enjoy some art! \nSusan Baldwin Bosworth \nSusan is an award-winning pastel artist who creates colorful yet sensitive scenes of landscapes\, architecture\, interiors\, still lifes and figures. She shows her work in both local and national art shows. Susan was a fine art major at Kent State University and studied pastel with Elaine Juska Joseph and watercolor with Susan Pecora. Her style is impressionistic realism which allows her to express herself with a bold and intuitive approach. \nDuring the warmer months she paints en plein air and the rest of the year is spent with two long term painting groups and in her studio in Bolton. Susan is active in the Connecticut artist community and is a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society\, Academic Artists\, Glastonbury Arts\, Arts of Tolland\, Bolton Artists\, and the former Tolland County Art Association where she held many leadership roles. Currently she is teaching pastel classes in the Spring and Fall at Glastonbury Arts.
