Artist of the Month – April 2026
April’s artist is Pat Tanger

Pat was born in New London, CT and grew up along the Niantic River in Waterford. Her father enjoyed drawing and painting; she learned from him at a very early age.
Pat graduated from Pratt Institute in 1980, earning a B.F.A. degree in Interior design. During a 16 year career designing office interiors, Pat always maintained her childhood passion for creating works of art. Pat is mainly a self taught fine artist although she has studied with several professional artists and is continually expanding her knowledge.
Pat’s passion for creating art led her first to pencil before she was introduced to soft pastels. Although she works in several other mediums, Pat truly enjoys drawing and painting with soft pastels. Pat creates paintings in a variety of media from reference photos taken in her travels. Pat’s works put a strong emphasis on both composition and color.
While Pat enjoys all of her commissioned work, she particularly enjoys creating commissioned pet portraits in a variety of media. Like her landscapes, her lifelike pet portraits capture the essence of the animal. The joy these portraits bring to the pet owners is reflected in their testimonials.
