Watercolor Painting Workshop with Sarah Baskin – March 13, 2027
Workshop Description
During the 3-hour intermediate watercolor workshop, we will paint a landscape from start tofinish based on one of my photos. We will begin the workshop by spending a few minutes talking about materials (paints, brushes, and paper) that will help attendees achieve their best possible results. We will then go over some basic principles of composition, how to plan a painting, and some basic principles of watercolor painting, including painting light to dark, how to create a wash, and the importance of paint consistency (when and why to use various paint consistencies, how to avoid (or create) a bloom, and how paint consistency affects depth perception). We will then paint a painting in three washes. After I demonstrate each wash, participants will get a chance to paint their own wash, ask questions and get feedback on their paintings.
