Artist of the Month for September 2026

We are proud to present September’s Artist of the Month, Jennifer Gillotti. Jennifer is a relatively new sponsor of the Wethersfield Art League, but she is not new to painting.

One of my earliest childhood memories is watching my late aunt paint in her basement and feeling a deep sense of curiosity about the creative process. Although I had always enjoyed drawing and painting, it wasn’t until I took my first watercolor class at age 40 that the spark was truly lit.

Over the years, I have continued to learn, taking classes and experimenting with a variety of media. Still, it took time for me to embrace the belief that I could call myself an artist. Since retiring, I have been able to immerse myself fully in the creative process with renewed enthusiasm, and a willingness to explore new experiences.

My time with the Wethersfield Art League has been especially rewarding. I have enjoyed meeting fellow artists and was delighted to teach a beginner acrylic class in the early spring. As my artistic journey continues, I am beginning to move toward abstract painting, challenging myself to loosen up, trust my instincts, and experience the joy and freedom of creating. I am still discovering my artistic voice—and enjoying every step along the way.
