Our monthly meetings and art demos are held at the Pitkin Community Center at 30 Greenfield St., Wethersfield on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. Free to sponsors and the public. Cindy Shaw Painting Demonstration, March 6, 6:30 pm

Paint Clear Water!
Watch Cindy Shaw paint water translucency, surface reflections and flow. She will demonstrate how to block-in a creek, while discussing composition and color mixing in oil and acrylic. Cindy is an award-winning, impressionist oil painter, avid hiker and fly-fisher. She regularly paints outdoors “en plein air” on her various adventures throughout the Appalachians and Rockies.

Susan Baldwin Bosworth Pastel Demonstration, April 2, 6:30 pm

Susan is an award-winning pastel artist who creates colorful yet sensitive scenes of landscapes, architecture, interiors, still lifes and figures. She shows her work in both local and national art shows. Susan was a fine art major at Kent State University and studied pastel with Elaine Juska Joseph and watercolor with Susan Pecora. Her style is impressionistic realism which allows her to express herself with a bold and intuitive approach.
During the warmer months she paints en plein air and the rest of the year is spent with two long term painting groups and in her studio in Bolton. Susan is active in the Connecticut artist community and is a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society, Academic Artists, Glastonbury Arts, Arts of Tolland, Bolton Artists, and the former Tolland County Art Association where she held many leadership roles. Currently she is teaching pastel classes in the Spring and Fall at Glastonbury Arts. She accepts commissions and requests for demonstrations or workshops.

Jessica Callaghan Everlasting Floral Wreath Demonstration, May 7, 2026 6:30pm

Jesse Callaghan of Evocative As Floral will be demonstrating techniques to create an eco-friendly everlasting wreath. Jesse grows her own seasonal flowers in Wallingford, CT. She will discuss her process from growing, to drying, as well as some of her favorite flowers to work with. Jessica will demonstrate how to decorate a wreath using home-grown sustainable floral products, seasonal blooms, foraged foliage, and garden-grown accents to transform a simple base into a statement piece.

Evocative as floral is about creating playful, whimsical pieces and installations with own-grown and locally foraged/sourced seasonal material. Sustainable flowering is a big part of what I strive to offer, meaning free mechanics, ecofriendly solutions, and chemical free. I grow and partner with other local farms whenever possible. Drawing on my background as a photo and prop stylist I love to make flowers for your feels!
